One to savour!
Nyx was matured for three months in ex bourbon & sour mash whiskey (JD) barrels, taking on characters from the charred American oak and caramelised wood sugars, and soaking into barrel staves still permeated with sour-mash whiskey.
This produces a stout which is extremely mellow and silky in the mouth, but which has also taken on a significant alcohol heat. Chocolate and smoke aromas lead on to an intensely flavoured palate that lingers long and shows flavours of sweet, whiskey-soaked sultana and raisins, dark bitter cocoa, and coffee beans.
